My graduation assignment was a research and development project focused on extending one of OrangeNXT solutions, mobileNXT, with a virtual cloud planner. At the moment, the solution integrates with backend systems to get the routes to be carried out. Within mobileNXT, these tasks are executed on the phone app of the worker while progress and exceptions are monitored at the same time. One of the product strategies is to make the platform more independent of these systems and thus the idea of having a more flexible solution was the reason behind my project.
Currently a user can manually create a task and assign it to a specific time and resource by dragging it on a planning board. However, this process can become very cumbersome if there are many activities, each having specific business constraints that must be accounted for. Therefore, the goal of the internship was to extend the current application with a virtual system that applies intelligent planning and optimization to the existing board by making use of external cloud optimizer such as GraphHopper and Ortec.
I am grateful to Mr. Jeroen Donkers and Mr. Bart Lamot for offering me the chance to be part of such an inspirational community. Furthermore, I would like to thank my company mentor, Niki Schuitvlot, for being so supportive during these months. I am honored for having him as coordinator in this amazing journey. I know the outcome of the project wouldn’t have been the same without his constant help, feedback and advice. Overall, I am glad I could contribute to taking the mobileNXT solution to the next step.
Lastly, I would like to thank all OrangeNXT employees for making this experience extraordinary!
